Rules of the Game of FreecellFreecell is a one-deck solitaire card game where all cards are dealt face up into 8 tableau piles. Above the tableau piles are placed four Free Cells (left side) and four foundation piles (right side). The object of the game is to build up all cards on foundations from Ace to King of the same suit. A game is won when all 52 cards are moved to their respective foundations, 13 cards to each foundation. Top cards of tableau piles and cards from Free Cells are available to play. Tableau piles must be built down by alternating suit color. The top card of any tableau pile can also be moved to any Free Cell. Each Free Cell can only contain a single card, which can be moved back to build tableau piles or permanently to a foundation pile. Finally, only one card can be moved at a time. This rule prevents moving a sequence of tableau cards from the end of one pile to the end of another pile. A sequence can only be moved when there are enough empty Free Cells and/or empty tableau piles to temporarily hold all the cards in the sequence until the topmost card can be moved to its destination. For your convenience LFreeCell allows you to move sequences of tableau cards without having to manually move each card provided that there are enough empty Free Cells and/or empty tableau piles available. This feature is called automation and it greatly enhances the overall playing experience.
